“Basic First Aid” Training Courses
The concept of first aid was formed in early human history, when people began helping the injured and sick before the availability of a doctor or medical professional. However, as an organized and teachable system, first aid developed mainly in the 19th century.
A key role in the development of the modern first aid system was played by Henri Dunant, who, after the Battle of Solferino, initiated a volunteer movement to assist the wounded.
In 1877, the “St John Ambulance” organization began delivering structured first aid training to the public. At that time, first aid was mainly focused on providing rapid response to industrial injuries and road traffic accidents.
Today, first aid is considered an important component of public safety and is included in the educational, healthcare, and emergency preparedness systems of many countries. First aid skills contribute to saving lives, reducing suffering, and increasing people’s resilience in emergency situations.
Service Description
The “Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform” (ARNAP) Foundation, being one of the leading organizations in the field of disaster risk management and civil defense in Armenia, offers professional training courses that develop first aid skills.
Training Program
The training program developed by the ARNAP Foundation is based on the first aid guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), international best practices, as well as national standards for first aid provision (the latter is not approved by a legal act but is accepted by recognized actors in the field).
The content of the proposed training program is continuously improved based on evidence-based and data-driven statistics, international best practices, and analysis of real cases, which allows the delivery of up-to-date, effective, and practical knowledge and skills.
The program enables participants to learn how to assess scene safety and the condition of the casualty, and to provide first aid in various types of injuries, including bleeding, burns, fractures, loss of consciousness, acute abdominal conditions, sudden medical emergencies, bites, snake bites, and other situations. Participants will also learn how to work with bandaging materials, as well as various methods and techniques of patient transport.
Target Audience
The courses are designed for all organizations (public, municipal, private, civil society, international, etc.) that value the development of their staff’s self-help and mutual aid skills in emergency situations, in order to increase workplace resilience.
